Rickey Levon Johnson's Obituary
Rickey Levon Johnson, 59, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, April 24, 2023. He attended Brainerd High School. Rickey was a member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church. He was a truck driver for over 20 years and also had his bartending license. Rickey was a sweet and kind-hearted man that not only loved and cared for his family, but also loved and cared for everyone. He always loved to help anybody that was down and out and always had a smile on his face. He was one of the greatest grill masters you would have ever known. He was one of the hardest working men that have ever lived. Rickey would take the time to cook breakfast for his family. He was not only just a man, he was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Rickey is the true definition of what a man should be. He was preceded in death by his father, James Knight; grandfather, Shine Billings; grandmother, Frankie May Clapton; and grandson, Da’Shawn Johnson. Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Cheryl Toney Johnson; sons, Emmanuel (Natasha) Johnson and Trey Holland; daughters, Latitia Toney and Sheena King, all of Chattanooga; 12 grandchildren; mother, Jearlean Henderson of Chattanooga; brothers, Lovell (Brenda) Johnson and Henry Johnson, both of Chattanooga; sisters, Ruby Taylor, Dorothy Robinson, (favorite sister) Elaine Hunter, all of Chattanooga, and Carolyn (James) Steward of Texas; favorite uncle, Michael Clapton; mother-in-law, Laura Toney; brother-in-law, Malcom (Lori) Searcy; sisters-in-law, Annie (Bennie) Watts, Laverne Hicks, Connie Whitehead, Cynthia Henderson, and Gwendoline Hill; a host of aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Rickey will lie-in-state on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Ternae Jordan, Sr. as the eulogist. Burial will be on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery.
