Richard Edward Putman, Sr., 61, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025, at his residence in Dalton, Georgia. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Richard Putman, Jr. and Thelma Boone Lavette. Richard accepted Christ at a young age. He attended Worthing High School. Richard was a hardworking man with many skills. He loved his family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father; stepfather; sister; nephew; uncle; and aunt. He leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Richard (LeAnna) Putman Jr.; 5 grandchildren, Nivea Putman, Teyana Putman, Rihanna Putman, Brianna Putman, and Richard Putman III, all of Houston, TX; mother, Thelma Lavette of Chattanooga; siblings, Angela Boone of Chattanooga; Mary (Tyrone) Gambrell of Garland, TX, Arlinda (John) Newsome of Houston, TX, Roberta (Derrick) Hayes of Houston, TX, and Reginald Putman of Houston, TX; step-sisters, Terri Lavette Fugh, of Richmond, VA, and Desharla (Derric) Adkins, of Knoxville, TN; a host of nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles; cousins and many friends. Richard will lie-in-state on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Highland Memorial Gardens.
