Richard Hines' Obituary
Richard Hines, 95, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023, in a NHC Healthcare facility. He was born January 14, 1928 to Richmond and Sudie Hines. Richard made Chattanooga his home and accepted Christ as his Savior in his later years and united with New United Missionary Baptist Church where he attended until his health failed. Richard worked many years in the dry cleaning business until an automobile accident resulted in a spinal cord injury paralyzing him from his neck down. He prayed and often told us about a visit from a nurse wearing white who touched him and he started to improve. Richard explained that his nurse at the hospital told him there was no nurse there wearing white. We believe that a Heavenly Angel touched Dad – Thank You Jesus! He asked for the Pastor and he wanted to accept Christ and be baptized. After much therapy, he was able to return to independent living and became a member of New United Church. He spent most of his latter days listening to a recording of the Bible. This provided much comfort and gave him peace. Richard was preceded in death by his brother, E. C. Hines; niece-in-law, Sandra Hines; nephews, Jerome Hines and Willie Hines. Survivors include his devoted daughter, Rosanna Clark of Chattanooga; a loving and devoted grandson, Johnathan (Jamie) Clark; great-grandson, Isaiah Clark; great-granddaughter, Emery Rose Clark; all of Chandler, AZ; devoted nephews, Cecil Hines and Earl Hines of Chattanooga; Marty Hines of Wilmington, DE; devoted niece, Pearl Barnett of Chattanooga; special friend, Brother James Harris; a host of great-nephews, great-nieces; cousins; other friends and church family. Richard will lie-in-state on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Jeffery Wilson as the eulogist. Burial in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
