Percena Lynn Williams' Obituary
Percena Lynn Williams, 53, of LaVergne, Tennessee, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023, in a Smyrna, Tennessee hospital. She was born on November 22, 1969, to Percy L. and Minnie E. Williams, Jr. in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Percena graduated in 1988 from Brainerd High School. She attended Tennessee State University and University of Phoenix. She served in the United States Army as Chaplain Assistant for 8 years. Percena was employed with NES in Nashville, TN as a Senior Human Resource Specialist. Her special joys in life included her sons, DeVonte’ and Tyree, taking cruises, and spending time with her granddaughter in Arizona. Percena was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Percy L., Sr. and Alice B. Williams; maternal grandparents, William M. and Ruby L. Eberhardt; and uncles, Odeffie Williams and Cleotis Brown. Survivors include her sons, DeVonte’ (Rita) Anderson of Goodyear, AZ and Tyree L. Hayes of Murfreesboro, TN; father, Percy L. Williams, Jr.; mother, Minnie Williams; grandchildren, Luna Lynn Anderson and DeRhiana Destiny Taylor; brother, Gerald L. (Defriece) Williams of Rineyville, KY; aunts, Alice Faye Brown, Loycie Williams, and Mattie (Bennie) Peterson; uncles, William M. (Marguerite) Williams, Jr.; niece, Tanesha L. Williams; nephews, Gerald L. Williams, II and Brandon D. Harrison; a host of cousins; great nieces; other relatives and friends. Percena will lie-in-state on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Meredith Jackson as the eulogist. Inurnment in Chattanooga National Cemetery at a later date.
