Pecola L. Whatley, 93, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 in a local healthcare facility. She retired from Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Stephen Temple Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Pecola was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Whatley; grandson, Isaac Johnson; sisters, Mary Pruitt, Eliza Love, and Margaret Nance; brothers, Robert Love, J.T. Love, Luke Love, Nathaniel Love, and Willie Love. Survivors include her sons, Ernest (Mary) Love, Sr. and Andrew (Tammy) Whatley, Sr., both of Chattanooga; stepson, Paul Alexander of Rome, GA; grandchildren, Kirk (Torisha) Johnson of Snellville, GA, Anthony Johnson of Chattanooga, Ernest Love, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, Andrew Whatley, II, and Kourtenei Whatley, both of Chattanooga; devoted niece, JoAnn Ballard; devoted nephew, Reginald Pruitt; devoted great-nephews, Darrell Morgan, Jeffery (Trinette) Ballard, and Robert (Pamela) Ballard; a host of other relatives and friends. Pastor Earnest Jefferson will serve as the eulogist.
