Ora Mae Sammons' Obituary
Ora Mae Sammons, 89, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022, in a local healthcare facility. She was born on July 15, 1933, to Jordan and Margaret Tiller in Centre, Alabama. She was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church. Ora retired from Container Corporation of America and after several years of retirement joined her sister, Gearline Scruggs at her Day Care. Ora loved bowling, she bowled with a team for many years and was an avid bowler. She bowled many 300 games and won numerous trophies. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking. Ora was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, J. B. Sammons and Milton Overton, Sr.; brothers, Otis, Hamp, Odell Tiller, J. C. Tiller, Jessie, James, Ollen and Vinson Fife; sisters, Lola Stubbs and Cora Andrews; daughter, Denese Overton. Survivors include her daughter, Constance (Jerome) Rodgers; sons, Milton Overton, Sr. and Michael (Maxine) Overton; brothers, Donald (Christina) Tiller of San Antonio, TX, Franklin (Doris) Tiller of Houston, TX, and Earnest (Edwina) Tiller of Mobile, AL; sister, Gearline (Benny) Scruggs of Chattanooga; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends. Pastor Gerald O'Guinn will be the eulogist.
