Napoleon "Leon" White's Obituary
Napoleon “Leon” White, 82, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, October 28, 2024, at his residence. He was born on February 16, 1942, to Mr. and Mrs. Charlie and Cora White. He was the youngest of 11 children and had a host of nieces and nephews who affectionately called him “Uncle Leon”. Napoleon was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1960. He received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Chemistry from Talladega University (College) in Alabama in 1964. He was drafted to the United States Army after college and was honorably discharged 2 years later. At that time, he settled in California, where he met and married his first wife, Yvonne Barnett, in 1971. That union welcomed his only child, Danielle Yvonne. Napoleon lived in the San Francisco Bay Area until around 1983 when he decided to move back to Chattanooga. He grew up attending Mt Calvery Baptist Church and was a member of Living Stone Ministries until his death. Napoleon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louvene; four brothers, Rev. Albert White, Frank White, Charles “C.R.” White and Roy White; brother/nephew: Marvin “Bo” Cleveland; four sisters, Dorothy Binns, Rachel L. Strickland, Naomi White and Edna A. Green. Napoleon leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Danielle Yvonne White, of Oakland, CA; his sister, Mrs. Lura L. Deville, of Kansas City, KS; his brother, Mr. Walter “Uncle Peter” (Alice) White, of Las Vegas, NV; his sister-in-law/Bestie, Mrs. Mary Jackson; a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024 at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
