Myrtis Brown's Obituary
Myrtis Evonne Brown, 72, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025, in a local hospital. She was born March 18, 1952, in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia and the daughter of Joe Thomas and Vivian Porter Grogins. Myrtis received her education at Rossville High School and was a 1972 graduate. Myrtis was employed by Standard Coosa Thatcher in her early years but retired from the Tennessee Aquarium which was her pride and joy. Myrtis was a member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church
Myrtis will join in heaven her sisters and brothers, Mary “Doodlebug” Moten, Diann Marsh, Edward Grogins, Clarence B. Smith, Curtis Grogins, and Joe Thomas “Tommy” Grogins, Jr.
Myrtis leaves to mourn her two daughters, Tamiko Grogins and Rhonda Davis; two grandchildren, Deja Tripp and Sasha Nollie; honorary granddaughter, Ashlee Watkins; two great-grandchildren, Messiah Tripp and Aariah Garth; sisters, Patricia Dickens, Edith Joe Foster, and Angela James; special friends, Lana Marie Moten, Foxy Young, Victoria Brooks, Shanerra Clark, and Leandra Sledge Williams; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Myrtis will lie-in-state on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Ternae Jordan, Sr. as the Eulogist. Burial on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 11 a.m. in Forest Hills Cemetery.
