Minnie Jean Moore's Obituary
Minnie Jean Moore, 87, of Chattanooga, was called from labor to reward on Monday, December 9, 2024, in a local health care facility. She was born September 26, 1937, to the late Flossie Carson and Iowa Hayes.
From an early age, Minnie displayed a remarkable spirit of compassion and resilience. She dedicated her life to serving others, whether through her career as a domestic worker in a private home or to providing care for her ailing husband. After reflecting on her marriage vows, in sickness and in health, she retired to give full attention to her husband’s welfare.
At an early age, Minnie accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She was a devout member of Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully served in the Usher’s Ministry for 50 plus years. On July 28, 2019, the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Baptist Missionary & Education District Association District Usher’s Ministry presented her with a distinctive Certificate of Service Award for 50 (+) Years of Ushering. Minnie Moore made up her mind that she would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of Her Lord than to dwell in the tents of evil. Her unwavering faith was a guiding light to her family and community, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Minnie enjoyed traveling, reading, working in her yard, doing church activities, and bowling. She often spoke of her friends Marian Watkins and Mary Roseberry. She was well known for her great cooking skills and especially for her delicious Banana Nut Bread that she always made and so graciously gave away.
Minnie will be remembered for her love of family, her dedication to her God, and her endless kindness to others. Her legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to have known her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Moore, Sr.; mother, Flossie Carson; father, Iowa Hayes; stepgrandson, Leonard Moore; stepdaughter, Vivian Moore Milton; sister, Ruth Ann Hendley; and brother-in-law, James D. Hendley, Sr.
Remaining to cherish precious memories are her brother, Henry L. Carson of Chattanooga, Tennessee; stepsons, Samuel L. (Shirley) Moore of Cleveland, Ohio and Kevin D. Moore of Chattanooga, Tennessee; stepdaughters, Brenda M. Edwards and Pamela E. Moore of Chattanooga, Tennessee; several stepgrandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, great-nieces and great-great-nieces; several nephews, great-nephews, and great-great nephews; special friends, Winnie Dunson, Jimmy Eberle, Tommy Eberle, Ricky Eberle, Billy Eberle, and Nancy Howard; a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends. Burial in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
