Milton Charles Buttram's Obituary
Milton Charles Buttram, 80, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021, in a Nashville, Tennessee hospital. He was born December 15, 1940, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Dorothy Coker and Hubert Buttram. Charles, affectionately called MC, was educated in the Chattanooga Public Schools. He graduated from Howard High School in 1959. He joined the Army where he served 3 years. While in the Army, Charles became a sergeant. He attended the University of Maryland. After he returned from the military, Charles was employed by the United States Postal Service. In 2003, he retired having served 41 years of federal service. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Coker Sanders; father, Hubert Buttram; stepfather, Ernest A. Sanders; brothers, Reverend Dr. Sherman and Jackie Buttram, Reverend William C. Freeman, and Hubert R. Robinson; sisters, Barbara Jean Buttram and Roma Jewel Busch; niece, Angela Freeman; nephews, Everett Freeman and Errol Freeman. Survivors include his loving, devoted and caretaker wife of 52 years, Laurel Jean Buttram; sons, Michael Avery Buttram of Chattanooga; daughter, Dr. Cheryl Lynn Buttram Clayton of Chattanooga; two grandchildren, Lauren A. and Miles W. Clayton; sister, Sandy (Eddie) Gay of Cincinnati, OH; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
