Mildred Lawrence Jones' Obituary
Mildred Lawrence Jones of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away Friday, January 7, 2022, at the age of 91. She was born September 5, 1930, in Chattanooga to the late Millard and Carria Lawrence. Mildred was a licensed cosmetologist, owner of Lawrence Grocery Store and Brown’s Restaurant. She was an active member of the Shepherd Community Action Council. She was a faithful member of New Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Carria Lawrence; sister, Juanita Lawrence Simmons; niece, Johnessa Barnes; and spouses Nathaniel Brown and Cleghorn “Clay” Jones. Mildred is survived by her devoted daughter, Wonda Hickman and husband, Paul Hickman; grandchildren, Paula (David) Kinnard, Sharon (Cyril) Rogers and Mark Hickman; great-grand-daughters, Allison Kinnard and Sierra Rogers; nieces Donna Gail Willis, Caramita Brown, Odis Ann Noris and Tody Faye Lewis; bonus children, Aloha Pope, Levi Brown, Ervin (Cathy) Cousin, Glynn (Mary) Jones, Cleghorn Jones, III, Gary Jones, Tony Jones, Jackie Johnson, Robin Denise Jones and Tracey Steward; along with several more relatives and friends. Pastor Walter Lindsey will serve as the eulogist.
