I first met Melverline when she became one of my early patients. Over the next 40+yrs we became friends and then adopted (her words) each other as family. My whole office looked forward to her visits. She always lit up the room and always had a smile and a joke or uplifting story. No matter the circumstance she was Always positive. Melverline and I were childhood friends and neighbors, when she resided in the Churchville community. After she moved, we’d periodically “run into each other and reminisce about our family and community. Though adults, we’d chat like time hadn’t gone by. I will always remember her smile and beautiful spirit. My heartfelt condolences to her family.

I remember Melverline from Chickamauga Elementary in Shepherd. I shall never forget when she consoled me after a very humiliating moment in 2nd grade and dared anyone to make fun of me. She had a wonderful sense of humor. Mrs. Gilbert, the cafeteria manager, made delicious peanut butter bars that would sometimes stick to the roof of our mouths. Melverline fondly referred to them as "choke butter!" I shall always remember her.
