Maxine Watkins' Obituary
Maxine Marshalen Watkins, 75, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021, in a local healthcare facility. She was born August 29, 1946 in Chattanooga, Tennessee and was the third middle child to Ella Mae Means Hardaway and Willie Horace Hardaway, Sr. She was a 1965 graduate of Howard High School. Maxine was a stay-at-home wife and mother of three children. She was a God-fearing woman and was a member of St. Elmo Baptist Church, and was baptized. She was a freestyle artist, loved to paint, played the piano, and was a gardener from her heart. Throughout Maxine’s life, she had a loving spirit that people admired. She was an outspoken person and believed in morals and values. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Ella Mae Hardaway Sr.; her husband, Billy Moton Sr.; sister, Carole Yvonne Maffett; brothers, Willie (Moochie) Horace Hardaway Jr., Harold Dennis Hardaway, and nephew; Gihon Hardaway. She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Billy (Yohunnah) Moton, Jr.; daughters, Bridgette (Tommy) Watson and Danyell Edwards-Moton; four grandchildren, Adriana Cunningham, Candace Jones, Janiyah Walker, and Raymond Edwards, Jr.; and a host of nieces and nephews. Minister Alvin Bonner will serve as the eulogist.
