Maurice McDowell's Obituary
Maurice Chavalier McDowell, Sr., 57, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026, in a local hospital. He was born March 11, 1969, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to James Owens and Theora McDowell. Maurice was educated in the Chattanooga Public Schools and was a graduate of Howard High School. He was employed as an Assembler at Volkswagen.
Among those who preceded Maurice in death include his parents, Theora McDowell and James Owens; and wife, Shaneka McDowell.
Survivors include his sons, Theoleus (Desiree) McClendon, PK (Tiera) McDowell, and Elijah (Cassidy) McDowell, all of Chattanooga; daughters, Artavia Crowder, Staci McDowell, and Diamond McDowell (Grant) Poe, all of Chattanooga; 5 grandchildren; brother, Michael McDowell of Chattanooga; a host of other relatives and friends.
Maurice will lie-in-state on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel with Pastor Dorothy Graves as the Eulogist.
