Mattie Rice's Obituary
Mattie Louise Rice, 70, of Chattanooga departed this life on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. She was born March 14, 1952, in Chattanooga to the late Hubert E. and Bettie F. Earvin, Sr. Mattie was a graduate of Riverside High School class of 1970. She was a member of Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church. Mattie retired from Lifetouch after several years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert E. and Bettie F. Earvin; brother, Rudolph Ervin. Survivors include her sons, Bobby (LaTosha) Rice of Atlanta, GA and Edward Rice of Chattanooga; daughters, DeHaviland (Travis) Douglas, Mirriam Rice, both of Chattanooga, TN.; sixteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Hubert Edward Earvin Jr. of Murfreesboro, TN; special aunt, Dorothy Pride of Chattanooga; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Croom of Atlanta.; special friends, Deborah Byrd, Karen Williams, Renee Hemphill, Vanessa Brown; a host of relatives and friends. Pastor Robert Henry will serve as the eulogist.
