Mary Ann Townsend, 81, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2020 in a hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Little Ed Townsend, Jr.; daughter, Debra Townsend; two grandchildren; parents, Rudolph and Eva Bell; brothers, Charles Howard and James Howard; sister, Helen Wildman. Survivors include her two sons, Lavaris Townsend and Roy Lee Townsend, both of Chattanooga; three daughters, Vivian J. Townsend of Chattanooga, Linda Junior and Evangeline Townsend, both of Detroit; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Bessie White of Mobile, AL, Susie Lee (Mike) Coleman of Ward, AL; Ruby Foster and Gladys Pankey, both of Chattanooga; two brothers, Richard Bell of Detroit and Square Bell of Gainesville, FL; and a host of nieces; nephews; many loved ones and friends who she loved dearly.
