Mary Lee Montford's Obituary
Mary Lee Montford, 87, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023, in a local hospital. She was formerly employed by Days Inn Hotel as a Supervisor. Mary was a member of Westside Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Montford; father, Zion Smith; mother, Virginia Smith; sisters, Rosie Lee Shnoes and Elizabeth Ferguson; and brothers, John Clyde Mitchell and KD Mitchell. Survivors include her sons, Jimmy Lee (Patricia) Smith, Willie E. (Brenda) Walker, Bobby Walker, Anthony E. Walker, and Fredrick Walker, all of Chattanooga; daughters, Shirley A. Walker, Patricia Ann Walker, Angela D. Walker, Sharon Ann (Montale) Johnson, all of Chattanooga, and Debra A. Walker of Knoxville, TN; 37 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Curtis Thomas Smith of Chattanooga; friend of the family, Robert Shaw; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Mary will lie-in-state on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Brother Jimmie Ingram as the eulogist. Burial in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
