Mary Lanetta Eaton's Obituary
Mary Lanetta Eaton, 70, of Carmel, Indiana passed away peacefully on August 25, 2022. Lanetta, as she was known to all her friends, grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She graduated from Riverside High in 1969 as an honor student. After graduating from Riverside, Lanetta spent a brief time at McKenzie Business College prior to beginning her career as an Administrative Professional. She worked for the State of Tennessee for many years prior to her retirement. Shortly after her retirement, Lanetta moved to Carmel, Indiana where she quickly established a strong and loving network of friends and acquaintances. Lanetta was a fiercely dedicated mother to both of her children. Her love for her children could only be matched by that for her grandchildren. Family came first and was above all else to Lanetta. She was their biggest cheerleader and a constant supporter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Frank “Ted” Eaton; parents, Mary Lee and John Thomas Boyd; brother, Robert Lee Ruffin; and sister, Rosetta King. Survivors include her son, Korlon L. Kilpatrick II of Carmel, Indiana; daughter, Teddra Lynn Eaton of Chattanooga, Tennessee; grandchildren, Malik Maples, Eva Kilpatrick, Khalil Hayden and Korlon Kilpatrick III; stepsons, Willie Eaton, Jr. of Tampa, Florida and Kevin Eaton of Ooltewah, Tennessee; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Though Lanetta was a private person, she was an important part of her community, and her loss is deeply felt.
