Mary Elizabeth Adams' Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Patterson Adams, 82, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in the Hospice Care Center. She was born August 17, 1942 to Alma L. Mayes and John E. Patterson in Ringgold, Georgia. She was a 1962 graduate of Howard High School. Mary was a dedicated member of Tucker Baptist Church and she loved her church. She loved all spiritual hymns. Mary was employed by Dupont as a Supervisor and retired after many years of service. She assisted her mother with culinary work which she loved so much.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy” Adams; parents, Alma L. Mayes and John E. Patterson; and brother, David Mayes.
Survivors include her devoted and loving son, Victor A. Flanagan (Carmen Vann); sisters, Catherine Neal of Chattanooga, Bernice Patterson of Cleveland, OH, Martha Newson of Chattanooga, and Burnetta Pride of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Victor (L’oreal) Flanagan, II, Donte (Ashley) Flanagan, Tyler Flanagan, Dominique Flanagan, and Amber Flanagan; great-grandchildren; loving nieces and nephew, Cathy Allen, Cherletha Patterson, and William Patterson; several other relatives; special family members, Sharon Howard and Pam Craven; and many friends. Mary will lie-in-state on Wednesday at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. She will also lie-in-state at Greater Tucker Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 12 noon with Pastor Gary Hathaway as the Eulogist. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
