Marie Readus Maples' Obituary
Marie Readus Maples, 91, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024, in the Hospice Care Center. She was employed by Valley Psychiatric Hospital as a Phlebotomist and retired after many years of service. Marie was a faithful member of the East Third Street Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Maples, Jr.; father, Felix Readus; mother, Alcinda T. Readus; daughter, Sephena A. Jordan; 10 brothers; and sister, Elizabeth R. Finney. Survivors include her son, Albert F. Jordan, Jr. of Toledo, OH; daughters, Myra Jordan Gordon of Chattanooga and Janice Jordan (Jerome) Parham of Sugar Hill, GA; 7 grandchildren, Travis J. (Keyaschei) Reed, Thomas O. Gordon, III, Ralph Jordan, Sephena Jordan, Alcinda Jordan, Jacob Jordan, and Megan Guns; 3 great-grandchildren, Asher Reed, Thomas O. Gordon, IV, and Lauren M. Gordon; brothers, Jesse Readus of Pulaski, TN and Samuel (Vera) Readus of Sherwood, AR; devoted niece, Vanessa Bullard; sister-in-Christ, Elnora Kirby; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Marie will lie-in-state on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 1-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Brother John R. Taylor, Sr. giving words of comfort.
