Marie Louise Cook's Obituary
Marie Louise Reeves Cook, 83, of Chattanooga, made her transition from this Earthly plane to the Spiritual plane on Monday, June 30, 2025. She was born on October 3, 1941, to the late Archie D. Reeves, Sr. (Alabama) and Annie Laura Evans Reeves of Chattanooga.
Marie lived a life of deep faith, love and devotion to God, her Beloved Jesus, the Christ, her family, loved ones and church. She was raised in the Shepherd Community and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1959 as class Valedictorian. She was an instrument of God’s Will, Love and Power to make this world a better place for all.
Her 30+ year career ultimately led to her becoming a Loan Officer at First Tennessee Bank, where she worked tirelessly to insure loan opportunities for minorities using her sharp mind and compassionate heart to serve others. She lived a full and productive life. To know her was to be loved by her.
Her devotion to St. James AME Church was reflective of her selfless service. She served in every capacity; cooking, cleaning, ushering, teaching, praying, Program organizer, Treasurer, Board Officer, and conference delegate are just a few.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Annie Laura Reeves Sr.; her husband, Charleston Cook; their daughters, Vaneece F. Cook and Valerie Grier; brothers, Archie Jr. and LaBron Reeves; and sister, Celeste Reeves Gosier.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Mona Reeves-Winfrey and Yvonne M. Reeves and Gregory Shores, her forever son-in-law and her sons, Vincent S. (Jennifer) Cook of Charlotte, NC and Rory D. Cook of Chattanooga; her grandchildren, Monica Z. Cook, Sirtuah S. Cook, Brandon Cook, and Amir Cook; great-grandson, Bentley; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all of whom she loved deeply and hold treasured memories.
Mrs. Cook will lie-in-state on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. A service to celebrate her life will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Interment in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
