Marcus Dewayne Fortson, Jr.'s Obituary
Marcus “Lil’ Mark” Dewayne Fortson, Jr., 22, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025, at his residence. He was a 2022 graduate of Ringgold High School. Marcus played with the Brainerd Bills Football Team. Marcus still holds the single game scoring record of 44 points at Heritage Middle School. He also played basketball for Heritage High School and his team made All-District and All Regionals. Marcus played football and basketball for Ringgold High School. He was also a Boys and Girls Club member. Marcus was a former member of Thankful Missionary Baptist Church and later became a member of Rock Island Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir.
Marcus was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clinton Roseberry; Raymond Fortson, Willie Mathis, and Mae Watson. Survivors include his girlfriend, Alexis Madrigal; daughters, Dior Fortson, Kai’yana Lafaye Fortson, and Kai’lani Alisa Fortson; father, Marcus Fortson, Sr.; mother, Makisa Roseberry; stepmother, Taniesha Edwards; grandparents, Fredrick (Mary) Fortson, Sr., Sharon Fortson, Mozell Roseberry, Darlisa Wynn, Thomas Jones, Seymour Hayes, and Wanda Hayes; great-grandmothers, Geraldine Fortson and Shirley Hill; brothers, Jaterrius Roseberry, Marquez Fortson, MaKarhi Fortson, Di’Corius Edwards, and Isac Bridges, Jr.; sisters, Jaleah Roseberry and Kayla Bridges; uncles, Edward Wynn, Gregory Trice, Terrance Hayes, Adrian Hayes, Fredrick Fortson, Jr., and Lawon Fortson; aunts, Princella Allgood, Irish Hatcher, Melanie Wynn, and Chantell Pride; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Marcus will lie-in-state on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the chapel with Pastor Ron B. Cook, Sr. as the Eulogist. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery.
