Makayla Haywood's Obituary
Makayla Haywood, 26, of Chattanooga, peacefully passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025, at her residence. She was born on August 30, 1998, to Michael Haywood Sr. and Karen Haywood. She was a 2016 graduate of Tyner Academy, and attended Chattanooga State Community College. She was a Customer Service Representative at Wilkins Research, as well as a DJ and Photographer for NM3 Media.
Makayla’s life was one filled with love, kindness, and devotion to her family. She was a cherished daughter, a devoted sister, and an adoring aunt. Her warm spirit and infectious smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Makayla was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, George and Dorothy Mcpherson, and Charles and Julia Haywood Sr.; uncles, Gary Mcpherson and Billy Mcpherson; and aunt, Bonita Crockett. She leaves behind a legacy of love and beautiful memories, and she will forever be remembered by her father and mother, Michael and Karen Haywood, Sr.; two brothers, Antonio (Adrienne) Whatley and Michael Haywood, Jr.; one sister, Lakita Haywood; nieces and nephews, Jamya Parker, Jordan Parker, Janaye Parker, Amiya Eady-Haywood, Tyreke Smartt, Jaden Smartt, Royalty Smartt, Princess Smartt, Atlantis Jones, Jr., and Armanie Smartt, all of Chattanooga; aunts and uncles, Carolyn Collier, Victor (Jackie) Mcpherson, Georgia May Petty, Wade Mcpherson, Angela Mcpherson, Iris Mcpherson, Kevin Mcpherson, Edwin Mcpherson; all of Chattanooga, Stacy (Beth) Mcpherson of Kansas City, Kansas, Charles (Treva) Haywood Jr., and Terry (Hiawatha) Haywood of Chattanooga; many cousins, loving relatives and friends. Makayla’s love for her family, her resilience, and her heart will remain with us always. She will be missed more than words can express. Makayla will lie-in-state on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Minister Lameechie Jones as the Eulogist. Burial in Summit Community Cemetery.
