Maerean “Rean” Elizabeth Campbell, 79, of Chattanooga, transitioned Friday, July 9, 2021 in a local hospital. She attended Howard High School. She retired from Parkridge Hospital (Sodexo). Maerean was a member of Greater Faith Temple Baptist Church. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Charles “Hump” Campbell; parents, Johnny and Nina Hughley; and sister, Lurul Hughley-Stewart. Survivors include her children, Maureen “Gail’ Carter, Toinette LaJan Carter, Johnny (Cynthia) Bell Jr., and Gregory Bell, Sr.; stepdaughter, Brenda Gail Raines; 13 grandchildren, Antwon Davis, Mar’Quita Davis-Hampton, Natalie Carter, Natasha Cater, Tehron Bell, Jonathon Bell, Shemica (Kenneth) Parrish, Nicole Bell, Johnny Bell, Sr., Gregory Bell, Jr., Angel Bell, Frederick Raines and Laphelia Sawyer; 20 great-grandchildren; 2-great-great grandchildren; siblings, Maodis (Vaniece) Hughley, Jimmy (Asaline) Hughley, Shirley Maddox, and S.J. Hughley; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Elder Delford Hughley, Sr. will serve as the eulogist.
