Lutrell Brown's Obituary
Lutrell “Truck” Morris Brown, 74, was born on Sunday, January 14, 1951, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Wallace and Florine Jennings Brown. Every day we make appointments; some we keep, others we change or cancel. On Friday, June 27, 2025, the Master summoned Truck home. He could not change or cancel that appointment. When he entered the Heavenly gates, he was greeted by his parents; his daughter, Chenoi Brown; his brothers, Wallace Brown, Jr. and Cecil Brown.
To ensure his destiny, Lutrell gave his life to Christ at an early age and was a faithful and devoted member of Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church until his departure. The Sunday before his death, he sang with the Male chorus and stirred the house with “Yes God Is Real.” His voice was a source of comfort and inspiration to many. He was also a member of the “Mark” Deacon group and the Brotherhood Ministry.
One of the many gifts Truck shared with the world was his heavenly voice. Blessed with an incredible talent for singing, he times of mourning, his singing ministered to all and offered inspiration, comfort, and peace. Through his singing, he graced many venues with a voice and sincerity in deliverance that touched hearts. Whether in joyful celebration or in glorified God and touched the hearts of others. Above all, Truck was a devoted husband to his wife of 50 years. Their bond was unbreakable, and it was evident to all who knew them that he poured his heart and soul into fulfilling his role as head of the home with love and faith. Truck’s life exemplified love, patience, and sacrifice.
Lutrell was educated in the Chattanooga Public School System and graduated from Riverside High School, class of 1969. Following graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam War. After serving his country, he received an honorable discharge in 1976 and returned to Chattanooga, Tennessee and worked for Wheeland Foundry and retired in 2018. Truck always worked two jobs most of his adult life. Another of his jobs was Holiday Inn in East Ridge, Tennessee.
He enjoyed traveling, playing basketball, playing cards being around family and singing praises to the Almighty God. Lutrell was also a member of the singing group “Rejoice” at Saint Paul A.M.E. Church, Unity Praise Ensemble, and Love, Peace, and Happiness.
He leaves to cherish precious memories his devoted wife, Loretta Brown; children, Cettetra (Saavadra) Browner, Levar (Shayla) Brown, and Rellian (Tamara) Brown, all of Chattanooga, TN; sisters, Carolyn Brown (Charles) Martin of Atlanta, GA, Barbara Brown (Robert) Ellison, and Helen (Reverend Phillip) Cox, both of Chattanooga, TN; brothers, Herbert Charles Brown of Germany, Robert Henry (Barbara) Brown, Howard Brown, and Christopher Brown, all of Chattanooga, TN; sisters-in-law, Vivian Jarrett and Lajuana Glass; special daughter, Tamara Hendley; 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends.
