Louise Sanderfer's Obituary
Louise Shoulders Sanderfer, 89, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023, in a local hospital. She was born on January 3, 1934, in Athens, Alabama to Herbert and Catherine Shoulders, Sr. Louise confessed Christ at an early age at Alabama Fork Presbyterian Church. She moved to Chattanooga and joined St. Ruth Primitive Baptist Church. She was a faithful member until her health started to decline. Louise was a faithful wife and loving mother for 54 years. She loved to talk, have fun, and cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Sanderfer, Sr.; son, Charles Anthony Sanderfer; parents, Herbert and Catherine Shoulders; sisters, LeLa Ruth Shoulders. Eliza Murrah, Selestine Green, Lucille Collier, Mildred Washington, and Catherine Williams; brothers. William Shoulders, James E. Shoulders, Herbert Shoulders, Jr., Robert Shoulders, and Larry Shoulders. Survivors include her daughters, Thelma Wiggins and Doris Readus; sons, John L. Sanderfer, Jr., Tyrone (Jacqueline) Sanderfer, Sr., Dale Wayne Sanderfer, Calvin Ward Sanderfer, and DeJuan R. Sanderfer, Sr., all of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Yelena (Tony) Morgan, Tyrone Sanderfer, Jr., Brittany Sanderfer, Ashley Sanderfer, ShaJuan Sanderfer, KezhaJuan Sanderfer, DaVoneka Sanderfer, DeJuan Sanderfer, Jr., Jaylon Sanderfer, Jumaya Sanderfer, and Jayielle Siler; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Rebecca (Othel) Washington and Christine Williams of Athens, AL; bonus sisters, Helen Readus and Hattie Boyd of Chattanooga; sisters-in-law, Nancy Sanderfer and Patricia Shoulders of Athens; brother-in-law, Lawrence Washington of Athens; special friend, Cherylmaine Stanley; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Louise will lie-in-state on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Clyde Sanderfer as the eulogist. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery.
