Louise Penn Hemphill's Obituary
Louise Hemphill, 78, of Chattanooga, passed away, Thursday, June 5, 2025, in a local hospital. She was of the Baptist faith and had accepted Christ into her life. Louise graduated from Riverside High School, “Go Trojans” in 1966 with a trade in Cosmetology where she earned her cosmetology license. Louise furthered her education by attending McKenzie College with a concentration in Office Management/Secretary. She was a dedicated employee at REGIS Distribution for 18 years and was part of the Widow’s Harvest Ministry. Louise enjoyed and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her entire family.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Sr. and Garner Mae Penn; grandmother, Iona Smith; son, David Penn; brothers, Hubert Penn, Jr., Rev. Lawrence E. Penn, and Percy Penn; sister, Ruth Penn Leeth “Baby Sister”; great-grandson, Fahkr Morgan; brothers-in-law; sister-in-law; nieces; nephews.
Cherishing her memories include her children, Eric (Valerie) Penn, Sr., Kevin D. Hemphill and Cheryl (Roland) McClendon, all of Chattanooga, TN; siblings, Eugene (Annie) Penn, Robert (Virginia) Penn, Sr., Larry (Clara) Penn, Willie Penn, all of Chattanooga, TN, and Don (Mary) Penn of Louisville, KY; devoted sisters, Barbara A. Norwood of Chattanooga, TN and Linda Iona Jarrett of Louisville, KY; sister-in-law, Zella Penn of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Eric (Angel) Penn Jr. of Chattanooga, TN, Jordyn (Frank) Morgan of Bessemer, AL, Keria Hemphill, Brechella Hemphill, Ciera N. Bell, Anthony (Stephanie) Byrd, Jerome (Deuana) Overton and Chambria Overton, all of Chattanooga, TN; great-grandchildren, Marquise Penn, Evan Penn, Micah Mayes, Keyvuanna King, Breychian Hemphill, Chloe Shannon Byrd, Conner Shannon Byrd, Cassie Byrd, Destiny Overton, A’Siyah Freeman, Kyjuan Parrish, Luvly Parrish, all of Chattanooga, TN, Fakeem Morgan and Frank Morgan III of Bessemer, AL; a devoted niece, Valerie J. Penn; a devoted great-niece, Kheisa M. Penn and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
Louise will lie-in-state on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Gerald Penn, Sr. as the Eulogist. Burial in Highland Memorial Gardens.
