Lloyd Sanderfur's Obituary
Lloyd Sanderfur, 71, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on March 31, 1951, to the late Mr. Solomon Sanderfur and Mrs. Ida Sanderfur. Lloyd, a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, graduated from Riverside High School in 1969. He loved playing the Cello in school. He was a part of several social clubs while in school. Lloyd became a member of Bethel AME at a very young age. He attended Grambling University and later went on to explore the world in New York City for a few years. Lloyd worked for more than 45 years as a welder. He loved spending time with his daughter and family and going on trips with his family, listening to different genres of music, building model airplanes, and riding his motorcycle. He loved spending time with his grandson. Lloyd was a resident of Chattanooga until 2007. He then became a resident of Shelbyville, Tennessee for 14 years. He returned home to Chattanooga in 2022. Most of all, Lloyd loved his family. He will surely be missed by all those who knew and loved him. Lloyd was a firm believer in His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Willie Sanderfur, William Sanderfur, and John Sanderfur; sisters, Betty Westbrook, Louise Murphy, and Myrtle Battle. Survivors include his loving wife, Patricia Sanderfur; devoted daughter, Jillian Sanderfur; and treasured grandson, Jullien Sanderfur who he loved beyond measure, all of Chattanooga; sisters. Janice Upton of Spring City, TN, Connie Griggs of Chattanooga, Ervina Jarret of Nashville, TN, and Hattie Benn of California; and a host of cousins; nieces; nephews; and devoted friends. Lloyd will lie-in-state Tuesday, March 28, 2023, from 12:30-5:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Bethel AME Church. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
