Linda Joyce Evans' Obituary
Mrs. Linda Joyce Evans, 70, completed her earthly journey on February 2, 2026, peacefully at home. Linda was born on August 7, 1955, to Mrs. Daisy Mae Hollis (Dozier) and Mr. Thomas Watkins. She was a graduate of Howard High School and Chattanooga State Community College.
Linda was a retiree of the City of Chattanooga as an Early Childhood Educator at Avondale and Cedar Hill Headstart. She was a member of Saint Elmo Missionary Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and served on the Junior Matrons board.
Linda will be cherished for her unwavering kindness toward everyone, as well as her resilience and commitment to her family. She had an infectious smile with dimples that brighten your day, a kind heart that could soothe and comfort in any situation, and a laugh that was contagious. Linda’s most rewarding position next to being a wife and mom, was being a Granny to her granddaughters. She spoiled them with her love, time, and of course gifts. Among her many qualities, Linda will be especially remembered for her strong faith and trust in God. In her words, “Don’t worry about it, God will work everything out.”
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mr. George Anthony Evans; her parents, Mrs. Daisy Mae Hollis Dozier and Mr. Thomas Watkins; and brother, Gregory L. Hollis.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughters, Lisa (Corey) Evans Thompson and Renata (Marcus) Evans Hammond; granddaughters, Aria Hammond, Maliyah Thompson, Kalani Hammond, Ramiyah Thompson, and Alisha Thompson; devoted sisters, Veronica McNeal and Katrina (Robert) Wilson; brother, Michael (Veronica) Watkins; sisters-in-law, Marva Jane (James) Smith, Nellie Ruth Warren, Samilla Turner, and Christy (Shakir) Rashed; brothers-in-law, Vaughn (Deborah) Evans and Kenneth (Jacqueline) Evans; host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Linda will lie-in-state on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the Chapel with Minister Kimberly Sterling as the Eulogist. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
