Lerlene Harris' Obituary
Lerlene Brooks “Big Mama” Harris, 94, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2020 in WellStar Tranquility Hospice Center in Marietta, Georgia. At an early age, she was a member at Mount Zion Baptist in Dadeville, Georgia. Throughout her adult life, she was a member of several churches where she sang in the gospel choir. She was employed for many years at poultry processing plants in Chattanooga and Decatur. Lerlene retired in early 2000 as a certified nursing assistant in Moulton, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Robert Harris; son, Robert Wayne Harris; daughter, Sabrina Harris Allaire, granddaughter, Carla Tucker; parents, Roy and Willie Mae Brooks; sisters, Carrie Bowens, Irma Oliver and Alma Murphy; brothers, Willie Oliver, Ralph Oliver, and Jessie Oliver; granddaughter, Carla Tucker; and aunt, Willie Mae Trimble. Survivors include her daughter, Emily Mason of Atlanta, GA; son, George Tucker of Detroit, MI; 12 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; godson, Roger Coleman of Crewe, VA; goddaughter, Linda Stargin of Chattanooga; sisters, Hennie Wade and Mary King of Chattanooga; brother, Reverend Jessie Porch of Chattanooga; niece, Peggy Galloway of Chattanooga; sister-in-law, Eddie Mae Dowdell of Atlanta; and other relatives and friends.
