Larrye Bernard Clopton's Obituary
Larrye Clopton, 70, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, December 22, 2025, in a local hospital. Larrye, affectionately known as “Lil Larrye,” was born into the Clopton Legacy on August 25, 1955, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Milton Horton, Sr. and Mattie Lee Clopton. He graduated from Chattanooga High School and was a former member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. He was blessed to have several careers and loved working with his hands. Larrye was an amazing person who brought happiness and laughter to everyone he met. Most of all he loved God and his family. He was an amazing father and grandfather and will forever be missed, adored and remembered by his children, family and friends.
Larrye was preceded in death by his father, Milton Horton, Sr.; mother, Mattie Lee Clopton; grandparents, Napoleon Clopton, Jr. and Mary Magaline McGuire Clopton; uncles, Napoleon Clopton, III, James Clopton, Charles Clopton, Sr., Aaron Clopton, Mark Clopton, Dee Clopton, Tommy Clopton, Frankie Clopton and Benjamin Clopton; aunts, Rosie Lee Davis, Evangeline Mosley, Lillie Kate Gaimary, Chinester Blanton, Ora Louise Moore and Mary Lee Grandison; cousins, Lovell Mosley and Joseph Bright.
Those left to cherish his beautiful memory include his loving and devoted family, soulmate, Lillie Clopton; daughters, Lynetta (Michael) Penn and Lyneisa (Jeremy) Sparks; grandchildren Lhadijah Sanders, Demetria Grier, Khiya Clopton, Austin Mayweather, Micah Penn, Issac Penn, Giselle Sparks, Jake Sparks, and Jabari Sparks; great-grandchildren, Zuri Bridges, Kazi Bridges, and Khi’an Parrott; 10 sisters; 7 brothers; uncle, Jesse Clopton of Akron, OH; aunt, Emma Dell Bright, of Chattanooga; dear cousins, Joe Moseley and Hazel, of Alabama; a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Thank you to Erlanger MICU, with special thanks to nurses Hanna and Anrew for the exceptional care and handling of our father in his final days.
Larrye will lie-in-state on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon in the Chapel with Pastor Ronald Cook, Sr. as Eulogist. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery.
