Larry O’Neal Smith, Jr., 52, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022 at his residence. He was a graduate of Howard High School. He was of the Baptist faith. Larry worked in maintenance in the healthcare field. He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Smith, Sr.; son, Larry Gaines; sister, Tinikia Appleberry; grandparents, Laura and Peter Bates, Precious Cox. Survivors include his companion of 29 years, Carmelita Twitty; sons, Larry Smith, Cornelius Smith, and Taurean Davis; daughters, Jasmine Twitty, Angel Twitty, and Quita Morris; 17 grandchildren; mother, Earline Bates; brothers, Gregory Belue (Marcey), Darwin Smith, Antoine Smith, French Moore (Sonja), and Alfred Wiley; sisters, Angela Belue, Tab Vinson, and Shunica Ramsey, all of Chattanooga; uncles, Burl Watkins (Bonnie) of Decatur, AL, Curtis Bates of Chattanooga, and Peter Bates, Jr.; aunts, Annie Watkins of Decatur, AL, Barbara Bates of Chattanooga, Lee Moore of Florence, AL, and Genece Evans of Nashville, TN; mother and father-in-law, Pat (Jerome) Gore; best friend, Robert Hall; a host of other relatives and friends. Pastor Letechia Ellis will be the eulogist.
