Larry Acklin Jr.'s Obituary
Larry J. Acklin Jr., age 41, he passed away as a result of an unfortunate incident on February 8, 2025. Larry was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tn to Mr. Larry and Mrs. Kasandra Acklin on April 12, 1983. He attended Brainerd High School. Larry was a very kind young man. He made no strangers, always showing love, care, sociability, thoughtfulness, and creativity. Larry deeply loved his children, and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them. As a Christian, he had a personal relationship with God. He was baptized at an early age by Dr. Rev. Andrew J. Bullard Jr. and later rededicated his life to Christ under the leadership of Dr. Rev. Andrew J. Bullard III at New Enon Baptist Church. Larry had a passion for basketball, dancing, having fun, and spending time with family and friends. Larry is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Evelyn B. Jackson, maternal grandfather, Will E. Byrd; and paternal grandparents, James and Izola Acklin. Survivors include a special friend and mother of his children, Sherrel Hyter; parents, Larry J. Acklin Jr. and Kasandra Acklin; daughter, Akeyia Acklin; sons, Larry J. Acklin III and Demarquez Hyter; grandfather, Nathaniel Jackson; brother, Demetrius (Jamie) Acklin; sister/cousin, Brittany Byrd of Decatur, GA; uncles, Will E. Byrd, Hollis (Sheryl) Acklin of Powder Springs, GA, Curtis (Jackie) Byrd; aunts, Wannie Hinton of Powder Springs, GA, Karen (James) Jenkins of Temple, GA, Kathyrn (Richard) Smith, Anita Byrd, Alisa (Arthur) Watley, Nadine (Dennis) Fortson, Cecilia (Ollie) Peters of Stuttgart, AR; niece, Madison K. Acklin, nephews, Demetrius Acklin Jr., DeShaun Acklin, Kevin Halfacre Jr., Markee and Markes Crutcher, several cousins and friends He will lie-in-state on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the chapel. Burial in Highland Memorial Gardens.
