Kenneth Petty's Obituary
Kenneth Petty, 67, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2024 in a local hospital. He was born March 3, 1956 in New Market, Alabama, to Alexander and Minnie Lou Crutcher Petty. He was educated in the Chattanooga Public School System and accepted Christ at an early age in life. Following high school, Mr. Petty joined the United States Marines, where he served his country. Mr. Petty also worked at U.S. Pipe Foundry and other companies in the City of Chattanooga. Most knew Mr. Petty as “KP”. He loved to help family, friends, and neighbors before his health began to fail. His side hustles and business adventures were K.P. Gutter Service, K.P. Yard Work, and K.P. Car Detailing, with his partner and helper Ace Kirk. Among those who preceded him in death include his parents, Alexander and Minnie Lou Petty; brother, Roy Petty. Cherishing his memories include his wife, Georgia Mae Petty; one daughter, Keomie Petty (Christopher) Howard; granddaughter, Savana Geddes, all of Chattanooga; sisters, Ruby Moore, Margaret Petty, and Minnie (Anthony) Taylor; one brother, Samuel (Gilda) Petty, all of Chattanooga; aunts, Mattie (Albert) Crawford of Chattanooga, Lizzie M. Crutcher, Marie Montague, Ludie B. Pruitt, Belita Bell, Sarah Steward of New Market, AL, Marilyn Moore of Huntsville, AL, and Fannie McWilliams of Fayetteville, NC; one uncle, William H. Crutcher (Peter) of New Market, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Kenneth will lie-in-state on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Rev. John D. Smith as the eulogist. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
