Kelvin Jimel Griffin's Obituary
Kelvin Jimel Griffin, 39, of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024, in a local hospital. Kelvin attended Brainerd High School and graduated, class of 2003. He was a member of the Brainerd High marching band, where he played the cymbals. Kelvin furthered his education by attending the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he played the cymbals in the Marching Band. He later enrolled in Chattanooga State Vocational, where he obtained his small engines ASE certification. Kelvin was a member of the New Emmauel Baptist Church. He will truly be missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Malvin and Cassie Griffin, Ocie M. Hughey, and Mr. Jimmy L. Dunnigan; aunts, Shirley Lockhart, Dorothy M. Griffin, and Linda Ann Griffin; uncles, Willie Griffin, Sr., Alvin Griffin, Sr., Jeffrey L. Dunnigan, and Alfred L. Griffin. Survivors include his wife of 8 years, Lucsendea Griffin; son, Kaliv Jimel Griffin; daughters, Miracle N. Herring and Kayla S. Griffin, all of Chattanooga; father, Calvin J. Griffin; mother, Victoria Renea Griffin; mother-in-law, Mary Herring; grandmother, Anita Dunnigan; brothers, Calvin M. (Shekeia) Griffin and Marquis M. (Destiny) Griffin; sister, Quintana S. Penn-Bowling, all of Chattanooga; uncles, Dennis J. (Tiffany) Griffin of Chattanooga, Barry L. (Teresa) Dunnigan of Rolla, MO, Danny (Karen) Bowers of Chattanooga, and Marcus Rivers; aunts, Malvin Mae Presley of LaFayette, AL, Eva Byrdsong, Angela F. Ramsey, Patricia Moore, Sabrina Griffin, Karen Thompson, Gail Griffin, Tiki Thompson, Sharon Harris, and Terry Sutton, all of Chattanooga; special uncle, Harold (Debra) Freeman; special cousin, Demetrius Griffin; a host of special friends, Gerald Richardson, Jr., Christian Harrington, Brandon Grimes, Shawn Black, Rickey Dews, Jr., Anthony Brantley, Shaun McAfee, Christopher M. Chhitk, Joe Sem, John Sem, Billy Burton, Richard Forton, Darryon Wood, and Kenneth Phoenix; a host of other relatives and friends. Kelvin will lie-in-state on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Terrance Hannah as the eulogist. Burial on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in Highland Memorial Gardens.
