Katie Ruth Burks' Obituary
Katie Ruth Burks, 76, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024, at her residence. She was a graduate of Howard High School. She was formerly employed as a CNA by Hamilton County Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Osby Burks, Jr.; parents, Leonard Lowe and Ida Mae Jackson. Survivors include her son, Michael (Shakovia) Burks of Chattanooga; daughters, Michelle Goines of Chattanooga, Lisa Burks of Memphis, TN, and stepdaughter, Pamela Burks of Huntsville, AL; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother, John Burks of Huntsville, AL; brother-in-law, Lee Burks of Chattanooga; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Burks, Mary Ray, and Ernestine Burks, all of Chattanooga; several nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Katie will lie-in-state on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 1-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Monday, October 28, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. in Highland Memorial Gardens with Pastor Willie Paul giving the words of comfort.
