Kathryn Leanna Green's Obituary
Kathryn Leanna Green, 78, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at her home. She was a 1960 graduate of Brooker T. Washington High School. She attended Knoxville College and earned a bachelor’s degree in Education from Lane College. Kathryn was a faithful member of New Mount Annie Baptist Church for 28 years in Bakewell, Tennessee, where she served as the financial secretary. She was an Elementary School teacher with Hamilton County Department of Education. She retired in 2003 after serving well over 30 years. During her tenure she taught at Elbert S. Long, Barger Academy and Hillcrest Elementary. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Kathryn Green; sister, Lorraine Richardson; brothers, Nathaniel Green and Napoleon Green. Survivors include her daughters, Laurie Rowe and fiancé Sam Walker, Jr., both of Severn, MD and Leah (Vincent) Blackburn of Chattanooga; precious grandchildren, Carmen Janel Blackburn, Isaiah Blackburn, Jasper Blackburn, all of Chattanooga, and Sophia Walker of Severn; brother, James Green of Savannah, GA; godchildren, Cornelia (Tredarion) Hampton of Southhaven, MS, Christin (Darius) Barber, and Tyrus Chislom, Jr. of Chattanooga; adored nieces, Tessie Barnett, Daphney Moore, Lori Walker, Felicia Williams, K’layia Williams, and Dymond Walker; cherished nephews, Courtney Barnett, Stanley Green, and Chaka (Yvette) Green; beloved Pastor and friends, Reverend Tyrus L. Chislom, Sr. and First Lady Betty Chislom; special friends, Veronica Powell, Claudetta Mattox, and Mr. Jesse Hewlett, Sr.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Pastor Eddie D. Jacks will be officiating, and Reverend Tyrus L. Chislom, Sr. will serve as the eulogist.
