Kathleen Marie Merriweather's Obituary
Kathleen Marie Merriweather, age 71, passed away on September 29, 2023, due to West Nile Virus at The Springs Rehabilitation Center in Murietta, California. She was born on May 9, 1952, in Tacoma, Washington, and was the sole daughter of the late Dina Marchetti and Robert E. McGlothin. Kathleen served in the U.S. Army for 6 years. She had a passion for traveling, bingo, bunco, and playing slot machines at casinos. The majority of Kathleen's life was spent in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she raised her two children and actively participated in The World's Church of the Living God. For the last nine years, she resided in Hemet, CA, where she devoted her time to caring for her terminally ill mother. During her stay in Hemet, Kathleen formed cherished friendships and found support within a Senior Community group she held dear. She was an esteemed member of the Red Hat Society and served as a board member for the HOA in Mountain Shadows of Hemet, CA. Kathleen will be fondly remembered for her unwavering determination to live life to the fullest and the deep love and pride she held for her three grandsons. Kathleen Merriweather held her roles as a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend close to her heart. She is survived by her beloved son, Charles J. Merriweather, Jr. and daughter, LaKesha (Lavarien) Grundy. Kathleen's memory will live on through her adored grandchildren, Lavarien Grundy II, Landon Grundy, and Dawson Merriweather; four brothers, Charles, Mark, Bruce, and Robbie McGlothlin; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will continue to carry her spirit with them. As we bid farewell to Kathleen, may her soul find eternal peace. May her memory serve as a blessing to all whose lives she touched, and may her legacy live on through the love and cherished memories she leaves behind. A memorial service will be Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home.
