Juanita Bailey Nicholson's Obituary
Juanita Bailey Nicholson, 83, of Chattanooga, transitioned to heaven on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at her residence. Born on July 22, 1941, she was a cherished soul whose life was marked by love, dedication, and a nurturing spirit.
Juanita's professional journey included various roles, and she ultimately retired from Brock Candy. She was a proud graduate of Howard High School and was known for her nurturing nature. She was a beacon of warmth and care, extending her love not only to her family but to strangers as well.
Juanita believed deeply in the adage, “it takes a village to raise a child,” and she embodied this principle in every aspect of her life. Her legacy of love and community support will be fondly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing her.
Juanita was united in marriage to the late James “Bud” Nicholson, Sr. for 68 years. Together, they raised a beautiful family of five children: James (Junjun) Nicholson Jr. (Mildred), Anthony Jerome, Vanessa Nicholson Calloway, Antonio “Tony” of Grovetown, GA, Natalie Sims (Offord “Rudy”) of Chattanooga; and Carla Mayes (Larry) of Chattanooga. They also embraced Freddy Fallins “Peep Po” as a son-in-love in spirit.
Juanita was preceded in death by many loved ones, including her husband, James “Bud” Nicholson, Sr.; her sons, Anthony Jerome Nicholson and James Nicholson “Junjun”, Jr.; her mother, Gabriella (Moore) Moody; her mother-in-law, Mammie Weaver; her brothers, Alvin Moore, John Nicholson, and Robert (“Pankey”) Moore; her sisters, Billie Joe Moore and Sandra Collier; and her sisters-in-law, Doris Weaver and Geraldine Martin.
Her siblings include her sisters, Shirley Sims and Clara Porter; and her brothers, Jeffery Moore and Danny Wayne Moore. She has 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She had numerous family members and friends.
May she rest in eternal peace. Juanita will lie-in-state on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 12:30-5:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Monday, February 24, 2025, at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Minister Freddy Fallins as the Eulogist. Burial in Highland Memorial Gardens.
