Joyce Mason's Obituary
Joyce Reynolds Mason, 86, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in a local hospital. She was born to Colonel and Ruby Reynolds in Whitwell, Tennessee. Joyce was educated in the Marion County School System and retired from Erlanger Hospital after 40 years of service.
Joyce married James Mason and to this union one son, Anthony Mason, was born. They had enjoyed over 35 years of marriage at the time of James’ passing. Joyce had been one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 50 years.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce was preceded in death by her sister, Josephine Hughes; brothers, C.J., Charles, and John Reynolds; daughter-in-law, Sundae K. Mason; sister-in-law, Inez Reynolds.
Joyce is survived by her very devoted son, Anthony Mason; grandsons, Juvonta and Micah Mason, all of Chattanooga; sisters, Carolyn (William) McCain of Whitwell, TN, Lois Jones of Conyers, GA, Shirley (James) Lamberson of Bridgeport, AL, and Anita Lester of Dalton, GA; sisters-in-law, Georgia Reynolds, Norma Reynolds, both of Whitwell, TN, and Brunella Peterson of Chattanooga; devoted niece, Felicia Spence; and a host of other nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
Joyce will lie-in-state on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon in the Chapel. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery.
