Josie Lee King's Obituary
Josie Lee King, 96, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the home of her daughter, Edna “Cherry” Reid in Monterey, Tennessee. She was born May 10, 1926 to the late Vick and Hazel Thomas in Blowing Springs, Georgia. She grew up and attended school in Detroit, Michigan and Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was married to Calvin Lee King 60+ years and from that union five children were born. Josie was employed by The Hamilton County Department of Education and retired after 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Lee King, Jr.; son, Donald King; grandson, Joe Willie Jackson, II; sister, Betty Jean Cleveland; brothers, Herman Gulley, Charles “Snook” Thomas, and Millard “Brother” Thomas; Survivors include three loving daughters, Edna Paulette Reid of Monterey, TN, Zora Lee Keith, and Ingrid Ann Jackson, both of Chattanooga; one son, Herman Ladell King of Chattanooga; 10 grandchildren, Ina Joelle Doss, Joseph “Chip” Keith, Jr., David Courtney Keith, Steven Ryan Keith, Marcus Lawrence, Eliesha Danette Jackson, Erricka Odette Douglas, Brian King, Kawana King, and Erica King; 14 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Josie Lee King lived her diamond purpose. She was precious, durable, unchanging, and designed by God. Pastor Floyd Croft will serve as the eulogist.
