Josephine Vance was born on December 31, 1927, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Luther and Lillie Mae Varnell. She attended Booker T. Washington High School in the 1940’s.
Josephine attended Mr. Calvary Baptist Church, while living in Chattanooga, Tennessee. During that time, she was introduced to Christ Jesus.
Among those who proceeded her in death include her parents, Luther and Lillie Mae Varnell; husband, Nathinal Vance; son, Joe H. Vance; granddaughter, Annette Browder; brothers, Eldridge, Labron, and Melvin Varnell; sisters, Lorene Parmes and Evelyn Jackson.
Joesphine passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at home in the care of Althia Hamilton and Hospice at the age of 98 years old. Cherishing her memories include her son, Lebron Vance; Althia Hamilton and Christine Davis; granddaughter, Laura Blanchard; grandsons, Joe H. and Rodney Vance; seven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; long-time sister-in-law, Nadine Varnell; a host of nieces and nephews.
She will lie-in-state on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the chapel. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
