Jonathan Seay's Obituary
Pastor Jonathan Orlando Seay, 57, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, December 29, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born June 28, 1968, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Joseph Oliver and Margaret Louise Seay. He was educated in the Chattanooga Public School System and was a 1986 graduate of Tyner High School.
Jonathan was the Pastor of The Worship Center of Nashville in Nashville, Tennessee. He was also a Master Barber Instructor for Genesis Career College in Nashville; Expert Subject Matter for Tennessee Barber Board; Accreditation Expert for National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts & Science (NACCAS).
Among those who preceded Jonathan in death include his mother, Margaret L. Seay; maternal grandfather, Albert Bragg, Sr.; maternal grandmother, Mary E. Bragg; paternal grandmother, Mamie Seay; and paternal grandfather, Elijah Seay.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Erika Seay; son, Kaleb Seay; daughter, Kearstyn Seay, all of Nashville; father, Joseph O. (Barbara) Seay; brothers, DeJuan Jeff (E’Bay) Seay and Dr. Cedric S. (Roxanne) Seay, both of Chattanooga; sisters, Karen S. Bailey of Lebanon, TN, Sharon R. Seay of Jackson, TN, and Johannah (Jerry) Hardy of Chattanooga; uncles, Samuel (Rella) Bragg of Evansville, IN, Willie J. (Mary) Bragg of Mobile, AL, Norman Bragg, Jesse L. Bragg, both of Chattanooga, Michael (Sharon) Seay of Richmond, VA, and Willie Rainey of Chattanooga; aunts, Mattie (LeBron) Russell, Patsy B. Rudd, Callie Bragg, Linda Bragg, all of Chattanooga, Catherine Robinson of Huntsville, AL, and Sheila Bragg of Atlanta, GA; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
Pastor Seay will lie-in-state on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 1-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Monumental Baptist Church with Dr. Cedric S. Seay as the Eulogist, Bishop Dickerson Wells as the Officiant, and Dr. Gregory Odom as Host Pastor. Burial in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
