Johnny (Johnie) “Mickey” Woodie Wade, Jr., 77, of Chattanooga, was called home on Thursday, August 14, 2025, just shy of his 78th birthday, in a local hospital. He was born on August 16, 1947, to the late Mr. Johnny Woodie Wade, Sr. and Lessie Bell Wade. Johnny was raised in Madison, Georgia and graduated from Pearl High School. He was affectionally called “Mickey” by his family and close friends.
Johnny married Mary Hunter and to this union, two (2) children were born, Angela and Gregory Wade. They divorced and he later married Alberta Turner and to this union, one son was born, Johnny L. Wade.
Johnny served in the United States Army. After serving in the Army, he then relocated to Chattanooga, Tennessee. While residing in Chattanooga, he served in the Army Reserves and was employed by Wheland Foundry for 20 plus years. After working at Wheland, he then became a city bus operator for Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) for 10 years until retirement.
Johnny relocated back to Madison, Georgia around 2017/2018 but returned to Chattanooga in 2020 where he resided until his transition. Mickey loved his family and was always available when needed. During the day, he would run his errands, drive around Chattanooga, visit family and return home to watch baseball and the Westerns. He LOVED baseball and the Los Angeles Dodgers was his favorite team! His most recent joys consisted of him watching his youngest grandson, Ryland, running through the house laughing and playing. This always made him laugh.
