Johnny Martin's Obituary
Johnny Wayne Martin, 67, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023, at his residence. He was born on February 16, 1956 to Lindberg and Melinda Erskine Martin. Johnny was a member of Rock Island Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board. He was a longtime employee of U.S Pipe for over 25 years until the closing of the plant. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Cynthia Louise Martin; parents, Lindberg and Melinda Erskine Martin; brother, Robert Ballard; son, Eric Brown. Survivors include his son, Derrick Brown of Detroit, MI; daughters, Adelaide Martin and Rose Martin, both of Chattanooga; stepdaughters, Audrey Lawrence of Chattanooga, Deborah Lawrence of Fort Oglethorpe, GA and Connie (Jeffery) Davis of Chattanooga; 11 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren; brothers, William Martin and Jerry (Veronica) Martin both of Chattanooga; brothers-in-law, Michael (Jeanette) Baxter of Anniston, AL, Andre (Veronica) Baxter of Birmingham, AL, Charles (Stephanie) Baxter, Ernie Canada, Gladys ”Tracy” Turner, Lottie “Kokoa” Stamper, Wanda “Jean” Canada, all of Chattanooga; a devoted dear friend, Filisity “FeFe” Shipman of Huntsville, AL; a host of nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Johnny will lie-in-state on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Ronald B. Cook, Sr. as the eulogist. Burial in Highland Memorial Gardens.
