John Earl Tucker's Obituary
John Earl Tucker, 66, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023, in a local hospital. He was a 1974 graduate of Chattanooga City High School. John was a faithful member, minister, teacher, and counselor at Avondale Church of Christ for approximately 45 years. He was currently in his 20th year of service as an elder there. John followed the will of God by ministering to the Christians and saving souls in Pikeville, Tennessee at the Rockford Church of Christ for 23 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Lee and Maggie Byrd Tucker; and aunt, Sophie Kimball. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Debbie Lynn Tucker; daughters, Stacey (Harold) Roberts of Chattanooga and Rachel Tucker of Atlanta, GA; grandson, CJ Carter; sister, Lousie Winborn of Gadsden, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. John will lie-in-state on Friday, August 11, 2023, from 12:30-5:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 12 noon in the chapel with Brother Armand Wine officiating and Brother Kenneth Brinkley, Sr. as the eulogist. Burial on Monday, August 14, 2023, at 11 a.m. in Forest Hills Cemetery.
