John Austin Paris, Sr.'s Obituary
John Austin Paris, Sr., 82, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, March 30, 2026, in a Tennessee State Veterans’ Home in Cleveland, Tennessee. John was born to Charles and Virginia Ward Paris on February 24th, 1944, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. John had two sisters, Adsonnia and Flora, and 2 brothers, Charles Jr (Boone) and Walter Paris.
On December 23, 1961, John Austin Paris married Corrine Davis Paris. They were married for 62 years. They had four sons, John Austin Paris, Jr., Labrone Paris, Darryl Paris, and Carlos Paris, and one daughter, Brigitta Paris.
John was in the United States Army for over seven years. He served in Germany, Korea, and Vietnam. His decorations and accommodations included National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Sharpshooter (Rifle), Vietnam Campaign Medal, and 2 O/S Bars. John enjoyed hunting & fishing. He enjoyed teaching his sons to be skilled marksmen and fishermen like himself.
John was proceeded in death by his father, Charles Paris; mother, Virginia Ward Paris; brother, Charles “Boone” Paris; daughters, Brigitta Paris and Amanda Paris; and his beloved wife, Corrine Davis Paris.
John Austin Paris, Sr. died on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Tennessee State Veterans Home of Cleveland. He is survived by his sons, John Austin Paris Jr. and Labrone (Jamie) Paris, both of Chattanooga, Carlos Paris of Georgia, and Darryl (Shelly) Paris of Rossville, GA; sisters, Adsonnia Culver of New York, NY and Flora Carrier of Chattanooga; brother, Walter Paris of Chattanooga; and by a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, family, and friends.
A graveside service will be held for John on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
