John Dawson Everett, Jr., 65, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at the residence of his daughter. He was born October 5, 1960 in Brooklyn, New York and was the beloved son of John Dawson Everett, Sr. and Orie Bell Nicholson Everett.
John received his early education in New York and graduated from Erasmus Hall High School, where he was a standout football player and proudly served as captain of the football team. He later attended North Carolina Central University, where he earned his degree in Business Administration and was an active member of the Ebony Alpha Ebony Service Organization, demonstrating his commitment to leadership, service, and community.
John believed in the value of hard work and carried that belief throughout his life. He was employed by Duke University Postal Services and AutoZone, where he earned the respect of coworkers and customers through his dedication, kindness, and willingness to lend a helping hand. His positive attitude and ability to make others laugh left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He was a man of faith who identified as a Christian and believed in the importance of family, love, and laughter. More than anything, John loved his children and grandchildren. He found great joy in spending time with them, sharing stories, jokes, and creating memories that will be cherished forever. His love for his family was evident in everything he did.
John was known for his warm smile, quick wit, and incredible sense of humor. He had a special gift for making people laugh and bringing joy into any room he entered. Whether he was telling a funny story or simply enjoying the company of family and friends, his presence was one that people naturally gravitated toward.
A devoted sports fan, John loved football and basketball. He was a die-hard Duke Blue Devils fan and proudly rooted for his beloved New York Giants, New York Yankees, and New York Knicks. Sports were one of his greatest passions and often sparked conversations, laughter, and friendly debates with family and friends.
In his leisure time, John also enjoyed binge-watching his favorite television shows, including NCIS, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, and Law & Order: SVU. He could often be found relaxing with an episode playing while enjoying conversations with those he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Dawson Everett, Sr. and Orie Bell Nicholson Everett, and his brother, Stanley "Raheem" Everett.
John leaves to cherish his precious memories his son, Markeith Andre (Jenifer) Alleyne of Queens, NY; his daughter, Dr. Jasmine Danielle Everett (Jerimea) Noel of Chattanooga, TN; and his beloved grandchildren, Savian Alleyne, Alydia Alleyne, and Jenesis Noel.
