JoAnn Grissom Rhodes-Owens' Obituary
JoAnn Grissom Rhodes-Owens, 73, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2020 in a Glendale, Arizona hospital. She was a 1964 graduate of Howard High School. She was employed by the United States Postal Service for 35 years and then took an early retirement. She traveled extensively to countries abroad. JoAnne was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Josephine and Dan Mathis; stepfather, William Grissom; husbands, Larry Rhodes and George Owens; sister, Myra Jones; six aunts; three uncles; two brothers-in-law; father and mother-in-law. Survivors include her sons, Terrence (Josie) Rhodes of Phoenix, AZ and Larry Rhodes of Chattanooga; granddaughter, Ashley Mautrin; great-grandchildren, Daniel Crespo, Donta Coleman, and Damarion Coleman, all of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Berlinda DeLeon of Chattanooga and Shellish Grissom of San Diego, CA; brother, William Grissom of Chattanooga; nephew, Johnathan Robinson, Jr.; niece, Areil Robinson of Chattanooga; three sisters-in-law; cousins, Cassandra Copeland, Sue Walker, Johnny Johnson; special cousin, Savonna Hill; special friends, Pink Jones and Raymond Harrison; a host of other relatives and friends. Brother Jimmie Ingram will be the eulogist.
