Jimmy Lee Anderson's Obituary
Jimmy Lee Anderson, 77, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at his residence. He was educated in the Chattanooga Public Schools and was a 1966 Howard High School graduate. He furthered his education by attending Tennessee A&I. He served in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge at the end of his service time. Jimmy was employed by Tennessee Valley Authority and retired after many years of service. He then served as a Foreman on the Grand Jury. Jimmy was a faithful member of New United Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon on the Deacon Board. He was also a lifetime member of the NAACP. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, J.T. and Viola Anderson; and brothers, R.L. Anderson and Leon Anderson. Survivors include his devoted wife of 56 years, Jessie Ann Anderson; daughters, Tara Anderson, Tracy Anderson Odom, and Tammy Anderson, all of Chattanooga; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Theodore Anderson, Charles Anderson, Clarence Anderson, Ronnie Anderson, and Marcus Anderson, all of Chattanooga; sister, Angela Anderson Bennett of Chattanooga; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Jimmy will lie-in-state on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 12:30-5:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 12 noon in the chapel with Dr. Jeffrey T. Wilson as the Eulogist. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
